Frog may not be the prettiest creature on the planet but as a totem brother frog has a handsome message. Frog sings the songs that bring rain and makes the dirt of earth more bearable. Frog medicine is related to water energy. We are taught by Frog to honor our tears because they cleanse our souls. All of the water rites belong to Frog.
The body is cleansed and prepared for sacred ceremony by water. We understand this element best while in the womb. Frog, like us humans, is a pollywog in the fetal waters and only learns to hop after it experiences the world of fluidity.
As Frog transforms into adulthood he prepares for the power to call the waters of the skies, rain. Because Frog knows the power of water he can sing the song that brings the rains to Earth. Frog calls on the Thunder Beings to cleanse and replenish the Earth with water when our ponds become dry. We are asked to be like Brother Frog and to know when it is time to refresh, purify, and refill the coffers of our souls.
Look at yourself today. Are you feeling tired, overloaded, harried, frustrated, guilty, nervous, empty, or weakened? If so, Frog is calling you to perform the cleansing that you need.
Take a break and allow your soul to bathe in the waters of Frog medicine. You can do this by taking a long relaxing bath, disconnecting your phone, or just pausing to take deep cleansing breaths. The main point is to find a way to rid yourself of the distractions and to replace the muddiness in your life with clear and clean energy. This will help to replenish your dry spirit, body and mind.
Brother Frog speaks to us of new life and harmony through his rain song. His song calls to the Thunder Beings (thunder, lightning, and rain). His ribbet is the heartbeat that reaches harmony with Father Sky and asks for the needed replenishment. So call to Brother Frog to find peace in the joy of taking time for yourself. This gift to yourself cleanses you of any person, place or thing that does not contribute to your newly found state of serenity.

late at night sittin…tryin to drink my grief into oblivion,… crying about the loss of my beloved dog Number 8. I rescued her Mama whom I still have and knew 8 before birth. She came to this earth with 11 other siblings and in the course of raising the pack I bonded and fell in love. I gave her away, thinking I was not worthy enough and got her back allowing myself her presence in my life. 4 months ago she left the earth plane. Suddenly in 3 days she was gone and my heart was ripped out. So many unanswered questions and I have not moved to acceptance.
After my tears ended tonight I walked into my hallway and there was a frog on the floor, the only passage into my house was 3 cement steps and a rip in the screen door. How the hell did a frog get into the house? I coaxed it into a corner and picked it up and took it out to the creek. It sat on the top of the stone fence and looked at me with a silent gaze then jumped into the night.
Earlier in the day I had, as I do daily, asked for signs from Number 8, and this evening in my tears I had said I have not heard from you number 8, why havent you given me a sign.
Then the frog appeared. Cleansing and healing through tears said the frog…….
I read that when you ask for a sign have no expectations as to what may appear.
Now I understand.
For the first time ever in my life I had a frog come to me tonight. He was trapped in my house and I was trying to see how I could catch and then release him outside without hurting him. He made it easy – he made three jumps across the room and finally landed on my face where I grabbed him as gently as possible and released him outside. I was totally touched by the experience and began researching its possible meaning. Thank you for your input. I hope I am determined enough to follow through for my ultimate insight.

I used to fish on farm ponds a lot while growing up and we have one behind our house now. One thing I remember is what a beautiful respite from the rest of life’s routine it was to spend time at the ponds. Brother frog played a large role in the symphony that played there each time so almost without fail it was a cleansing experience. I don’t go to the pond as often now … but this post reminds me of what I am missing!
Aaaaaaaah! What a calming read. Frog Totem. I must remember that!

Frog medicine is the best kind. The cleansing should be an important routine, especially as society bears more pressure upon us.
Sure did not know Frog Totem gave so much.
