Wolf is the Teacher in Native American Totems. Brother Wolf is a pathfinder and the moon-dog of your soul. He is the forerunner of new ideas and runs to the clan to teach and share medicine. Wolf takes one mate for a lifetime and is as loyal as any dog. There is an enormous sense of family within a wolf pack and yet there is also an urge to be an individual. People would probably be amazed at how similar Wolf is to the human race. We humans have the ability to be a part of society and we still embody our individual dreams and ideas.
Wolf is represented by Sirius (the Dog Star) in the Great Star Nation. Sirius was the original home of our teachers in ancient times. The Dog Star was thought to be the home of the gods by the ancient Egyptians and is still considered as this by the Dogan tribe of Africa. So it is no surprise that Native American peoples would come to the same conclusion and adopt Wolf people as the clan of teachers.
Brother Wolf has very keen senses and the Moon is the power ally of this totem. The symbol for Moon is psychic energy or the unconscious holding the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Some believe that when Wolf howls at the Moon it is an indication that he desires to connect to new ideas which are just below the conscious mind. The teacher within us all is empowered by Wolf and asks us to aid the children of Earth in understanding the Great Mystery of life.
When Wolf comes to you in the cards or in some way that you realize he is there as a totem you may be able to share your personal medicine with others. It is a time that your intuitive side might have an answer or teaching for your personal use. Wolf may be telling you to find a lonely place where you can find the teacher within you. The First Peoples have watched and learned from Brother Wolf for centuries and has been one of the tribe’s greatest teachers. He is asking you to find the teacher within you and to share your knowledge for the good of humanity.
This post is dedicated to Holley as she shared with me that she physically has Wolf living with her on a daily basis. Now how cool is that? The greatest teacher in the Native American belief system is there teaching her how to know! There is no doubt in my mind that Wolf is one of Holley’s power totems when it comes to Native American Totems.

Wow, living with a wolf would be really cool.
I think I was meant to read this today, thank you, you have helped guide me to my path 💚🙏🏼 And I’ve been lost for a while. 😌
Blessings
Rachel can you update me on how you are doing?
Recently I had an impulse that I should do a design for my Zazzle gallery based on a wolf howling at the moon – maybe I should follow my inner consciousness and go ahead and do it!
This is a beautiful post Bev.
Wow! I liked this “unconscious holding the secrets of knowledge and wisdom.” and thinking our children all have that Wolf totem, right?
